Notice To All Current SHA Debit Card Holders

Bank of Springfield (BOS) is the new debit card provider for SHA. The Visa debit cards work at any location that Visa is accepted. BOS has a number of surcharge-free BOS ATM’s located throughout Sangamon County. BOS also has two surcharge-free ATM networks, Money Pass and AlphaLink Alliance Network, which provide over 23,000 ATM locations nationwide. You can check your balance, access information, and/or report the card as lost/stolen through the 1-800 number located on the back of the card. BOS has three full service branches in Springfield and one in Chatham to serve you:

2024 Maintenance Charge Schedule

The 2024 Maintenance Charge Schedule is attached below and can be viewed on the public information boards at Hildebrandt, Bonansinga, Villa's At Vinegar Hill, Johnson Park, Brandon Drive, Madison Park Place, Truman Road (Maintenance Office), and 200th North 11th Street (Administration Office). Copies are available per request.

Applications

Applications can be obtained during office hours (Monday-Friday 8:00 am until 4:30 pm) at 200 N. 11th Street, Springfield, Illinois or can be requested to be mailed via telephone (217-753-5757). Applications should be submitted with all appropriate documentation as outlined in the application packet for processing in person during office.

Applications will be accepted IN PERSON only at SHA’s Administrative Office located at 200 N 11th St in Springfield, Illinois. All applicants MUST be interviewed by a Affordable Housing (Public Housing) Occupancy Specialist, who will review the application for completeness, accuracy and ensure that appropriate signatures have been obtained. Applications submitted by mail, fax, or internet WILL NOT be accepted.

Applications will be accepted Monday & Tuesday 8:30 am – 11:30 am and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

Walk-in Hours for Tenants on Wednesdays 8:30 am -11:30 am and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

Processing

Your application is processed into the system and put in order by date and time. Once the application process begins, there is certain criterion, which must be met:

Landlord History for 3 years: Criminal History:
  • No record of disturbance or destruction.
  • Payment of rent timely
  • No convictions in the previous six months.

Springfield Housing Authority currently has 881 units throughout Springfield. Of these, 407 units are designated for families, 462 are designated for seniors, 227 are designated for a special needs population, and 12 are designated for homeownership.

These properties include Hi-Rises for seniors and disabled throughout the Springfield Area.

Senior apartments are within secure buildings and have interior amenities that include:
  • Handicap Accommodations
  • Walk-In Showers
